Kurogane stopped Haruka as the got to Fai, and looked up at him. “He really is a fast learner.”

“He is a very bright boy. At this rate he’ll develop well in no time.” Fai kissed Haruka’s forehead. “Good boy, Haruka.”

Kurogane helped Haruka walk around for a few more minutes before looking out the window at the dark sky. “It’s gotten late. Bedtime?”

“Yeah.” Fai hefted up his son and tucked him into his crib. “Good night my angel.”

Kurogane took Fai out of the room as he turned off the lights and said ‘good night’ to Haruka. He brought them back into their own bedroom, holding Fai’s hand as he kissed him sweetly. His wings fluttered gently, and he looked down at his lover’s two different eyes. “…I love you.”

“I love you too.” Fai looked up at him happily. “We’ve really come far huh?”

“That’s right,” he repeated. Kurogane reached out and took Haruka’s small hand in his own, looking down to see the vast difference in their sizes. He scooted closer from where he sat, and patted Haruka on the head. “Good job, son.”

He bounced a little and smiled. “Papa! Papa!” He giggled.

Kurogane smiled at Haruka and stood beside him, helping him turn back around to face Fai. “Okay, now let’s try to walk back.”

“Come to Mama Haruka. Mama.” Fai smiled, pointing to himself as the boy started to move to Fai.

Kurogane continued to hold Haruka’s hands as he slowly helped him walk over to Fai. “Almost there…”

“Mmmm…Mama…” Haruka suddenly uttered, making Fai smile brightly. “Good boy.”

Kurogane held out his hands to coax Haruka to him, and smiled softly. “Over here. That’s good.”

“Bottle!” Haruka uttered when he started towards Kurogane. Fai had to stop him so he could recover from his laughter. “No…no sweetie that’s Papa.”

“Bottle!”

“Guess I have a new nickname now,” Kurogane sighed. He looked at Haruka and pointed to himself. “Papa.”

“No! Bottle!”

“Well apparently he knows ‘no’.” Fai smirked. “Papa, Haruka.”

“Mmmn!” He whined and flapped his wings a bit.

“Pa…pa…” Fai said slowly.

“Pa…pa…”

“That’s right.” Kurogane continued to point to himself and coax Haruka. “Papa.”

“Papa…” He looked at Kurogane and kept moving forward till he was standing right at Kurogane’s feet.

“You done?” Kurogane took the bottle, felt it was empty, and handed it to Fai. He then started to pat Haruka back and rock him like he did earlier that day.

Haruka burped and nuzzled into Kurogane while Fai got up and cleaned out the bottle. “Shall we help him walk?”

“Now? Alright.” Kurogane shrugged and got down on the floor with Haruka still in his arms. He carefully set the boy down on the floor, seated in front of him. “He’s learned how to crawl on his own, right?”

“Yes.” Fai nodded as he got on the floor. “Come to Mama Haruka.” He called out and smiled at him.

Haruka looked at him and started to crawl to him, smiling.

Kurogane watched Haruka crawl to Fai, observing him. “He seems to do that just fine. Can he stand up on his own?”

“I don’t think so.” Fai picked Haruka up and helped him on his feet, holding his hands. “Well he can balance on his feet pretty well, he just can’t hold himself up yet. Shall we go to Papa, Haruka?” Fai stepped forward to urge him to move. After a moment, Haruka took a step forward and then another step.
