“Well that’s…forget about working there right now, what kind of medicine do you need?” Fai was getting irritated out of his worry for the other.

“Hn…” Kurogane paused and felt his forehead. “I don’t think I’m sick…maybe just headache pills would do me some good.”

“Okay. Ah…I need some money though.” Fai looked at him, worried. “Can I have some so I can get you your medicine?”

“Really…” Kurogane dug his wallet out if his pocket. He placed it in Fai’s hand, and made him hold it tightly. “…You don’t have to worry about me so much.”

“I just want to take good care of you like you’ve done for me…” He said softly before leaving to go to the drug store. He returned a few minutes later blushing a little. “Mr. Kakei is very nice. He really likes petting me. Um…I’m going to be working four days a week there, I decided.” He told him as he gave him the medicine.

It honestly only made him feel worse. Kurogane was trying so hard not to think of that face making those noises he’d heard last night. But Fai’s kitty eyes and warm nuzzles and quiet purrs were doing all the wrong things they should do to his body. Every time Kurogane tingled or felt his cheeks get warm, he bit his tongue. By the end of the day, it was very numb.

Fai didn’t know what was wrong. This is how he knew how to comfort others but it seemed like Kurogane was getting more and more stressed as the day went on. “Are you alright?” He finally asked. “You’ve been very stressed all day.”

“Don’t worry about me.” Kurogane rubbed his head as he counted up the bills in the register for the day. “I think I’m just not feeling well all of a sudden…”

“Mmm…there’s a drug store next door right? They might still be open so if you need anything…?” Fai offered him.

“Next to Tomoyo’s place, yeah…” Kurogane nodded. “We could go there…you might want to take a look around, too. If you’re still interested in the place?”

“Hn…I know but he seems to enjoy buying me things. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. You should give him an idea of what to get you too!”

“Ah…right.” Kurogane took Fai’s hand and led him out the door. He was definitely not going to say it, but he didn’t like receiving gifts. He never liked feeling as if he was indebted to someone, nor did he want anyone to go out of their way to buy something for him with their own money. The only reason he ever took gifts was because they were usually forced upon him by surprise. He tried to keep off the subject on the walk to work.

Fai noticed that Kurogane looked troubled and did his best to try and lift his spirits before work by trying to be cute and affectionate like a cat. He didn’t want Kurogane feeling sad.

Fai nodded and followed him, threading their fingers together. He wanted to learn more. Learn more about magic and about Yunan. He never felt like this before and it frightened yet excited him. “It’s deep.”

When reaching the bottom he gave a gentle sigh “it is deep.” It had not sounded to pleasant, squeaking wood, and something running around. Muttering something while grabbing a small wand from his pocket and giving it a flick. Light swarmed the room, walls covered in books and staircases to more books, a desk covered in papers, a cat sitting there purring. It was just like the Light birds but it was black and caused darkness “She protects it here. when there are no lights she can become a woman, leading evil in only to hold them down till I get here.” The cat meows and jumps off of the desk only to rub against Fai’s leg “As long as your Rukh isn’t black she wont attack.”

“Fascinating.” Fai pet the cat and looked around. “Books…I wonder if I can learn the same way I learned at home. I could memorize them almost automatically. I just ran my fingers over the writings and I would know.”

He pulled away from the kiss to rub and nuzzle against him, a smile on his face. “I love you, Kurogane. I love you. I love you.”

“I know, I know,” he replied, petting behind Fai’s ears. Kurogane moved to scratch his cheek and under his chin, watching his face carefully. It might have been just a little bit on the somewhat cute side…not that he would ever say that.

He smirked as he felt the man itch him. It felt so good and he was so happy as he purred louder. “I’m so glad…I came to you.”

“Y-yeah?” Kurogane stopped scratching and kissed the tip of Fai’s ear. “We should…get going soon. I have…work.”

“Ah! Of course!” Fai got off of him and moved to clean everything up before getting his shoes on. Then the light coat that Ashura got him. “Oh! Maybe I can ask Ashura for some winter things for Christmas?”

“Maybe.” Kurogane put his own shoes on and then inspected Fai. “You can ask, but don’t make it sound like you’re begging. He already got you so much yesterday…”

“Hn…I know but he seems to enjoy buying me things. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. You should give him an idea of what to get you too!”
